Presentation

Jag har en doktorsexamen från Oxford University (1999) och är docent vid Uppsala universitet (2014) inom klassiska språk, med specialisering i grekiska. Därtill har jag erhållit behörighet som universitetslärare i Italien från MUR (Ministero dell’Università e della Ricerca), med fokus på religionshistoria, bokhistoria och klassisk filologi.

Sedan 2021 arbetar jag som lektor i kyrkohistoria, konsthistoria och kulturstudier vid Newmaninstitutet. Tidigare har jag undervisat här som timlärare, samt vid Sankt Ignatios Akademi.

Undervisning och uppdrag

Jag är kontaktperson för kulturstudier inom vårt curriculum studiorum vid Newmaninstitutet och examinator inom områdena kultur och teologi. Jag undervisar i kurser som rör kyrkohistoria, konsthistoria och kultur, samt medverkar i undervisningen på A-kurserna i religion och konst (Dura Europos) och religion och litteratur (Marilynne Robinson).

Därutöver är jag seminarieledare för det högre seminariet The Newman Institute Research Seminar in Late Ancient and Byzantine Cultures, som hålls både på plats och digitalt. Seminariet samlas 4–5 gånger per termin och består av avancerade studenter, doktorander och erfarna forskare som fritt diskuterar de presenterade ämnena.

Jag är också samordnare för seminariet ”Mariological Discourses” inom European Association of Biblical Studies.

Jag har tidigare arbetat i Signums redaktion och är numera medlem i redaktionskommittén.

Forskning

Min forskning fokuserar på antik och medeltida materiell kultur, särskilt handskrifter och miniatyrer, samt deras betydelse för historia och religion. Jag är intresserad av att lyfta fram kopplingarna mellan den visuella kulturen och den kristna spiritualiteten. För närvarande arbetar jag på en bok om teatralitet i senantikens Syrien, med särskilt fokus på målningarna i Dura Europos och deras koppling till judisk teater, framför allt Ezekiel Tragicus.
