On Friday 19th April we celebrated the end of the project of composing a Festschrift for Fr Anders Ekenberg. The project was led by James Kelhoffer (Uppsala University) with the collaboration of Carl Johan Berglund (University College Stockholm / Åbo Akademi University) and Barbara Crostini (Newmaninstitutet / Uppsala University) and was generously funded by the Segelbergska Foundation. Because of the Covid pandemic, the planned conference in October 2021 had to be done digitally. The volume of essays came out in 2022 with Brill and is entitled Why We Sing: Music, Word and Liturgy in Early Christianity. Essays in honour of Anders Ekenberg’s 75th Birthday. The funding also covered the electronic publication of the volume which is now available as an open access publication from Brill (https://brill.com/display/title/63219). We are grateful to the Newman Institute for supporting our initiative in honour of a prized member of its original faculty, who also chaired the Patristics Seminar for many years. We hope that the publication will contribute to spreading better knowledge of Swedish academia and church history to a wider public.
