Mötesplats inbjuder till höstens föredrag

Föredragsserien Mötesplats för teologi, filosofi och samhälle har dragit igång för hösten. Först ut ”The Compatibility of Evolution and Design: A Philosophical Analysis” – ett föredrag som Erkki Vesa Rope Kojonen, doktor i religionsfilosofi vid Helsingfors universitet, håller måndag 27 september kl. 19 via Zoom. Mötesplats för teologi, filosofi och samhälle är ett samarbetsprojekt mellan Newmaninstitutet, Teologiska fakulteten vid Uppsala universitet och Folkuniversitetet.

From Byzantium to ‘Byzantine’

The Newman Institute, Uppsala, invites to the 18th lecture in the memory of Lennart Rydén presented in Zoom (see below). Everyone is welcome!

Speaker

Ingela Nilsson, professor in Greek and Byzantine Studies, Uppsala University and Director of the Swedish Research Institute in Istanbul, will speak on the topic ”From Byzantium to ‘Byzantine’: how to approach medieval Greek literature today”.

Ingela Nilsson will look at the development of the study of Byzantine philology over the past couple of decades: the turn from texts as sources to texts as literature, the implementation of critical theory and the introduction of cross-cultural perspectives. 

Lennart Rydén (1931–2002) was professor of Byzantine Studies at Uppsala University (1980–1996).

Book launch

There will also be a book launch starting at 19.00 (7 pm). Reinhart Ceulemans and Barbara Crostini will present their edited volume Receptions of the Bible in Byzantium: Texts, Manuscripts, and their Readers (Uppsala: Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis, 2021).

Studenter kan tycka till om utbildning i EU

Europaparlamentet anordnar European Youth Event (EYE) den 4–9 oktober som fokuserar på framtiden för unga i Europa. Utbildning är en av de frågor som kommer att avhandlas.

Evenemanget är digitalt och går att följa av alla. Bland annat deltar en svensk Erasmus-alumn i en panel om inkludering i högre utbildning och internationell mobilitet.

Parlamentet efterfrågar också förslag från ungdomar inför konferensen och studenter är varmt välkomna att skicka in sina idéer.
